A strain of hairy and opportunistic insects once lived under the uppermost cliff edge of the Inverted Mountain. They lived catching gravity rats that became tangled in their long hair as the rats crested the mountain top. One day, the droning sound of the Mountain Man’s thoughts intensified so much that the hairs of their bodies vibrated painfully. Driven mad, they scratched and tore their hairy chitin away, revealing a strange metamorphosis beneath. The Thralls (also known as Trapdoor Men) pour down the mountainside hungry and sick from the Mountain Man's miasmal meditations.
